Adventure Trailrides - New Zealand Motorcycle Tour & Motorcycle Vacation in New Zealand

Overview

Adventure Trailrides takes people motorcycle riding through some of the most spectacular scenery and wilderness areas in Canterbury, New Zealand. Guiding people on trailbikes or quad bikes, they can access trails on private land that would take days to walk and people would never see. With tours such as “The Mountain” riding offroad on an 8,000-acre sheep and cattle station at Springfield or the “Coves & Coastline” riding on unsealed roads over Banks Peninsula with a lunch stop in the seaside village Akaroa, Adventure Trailrides has something for everyone.

The Director Grenville Button, an International Six-Day Enduro competitor, started Adventure Trailrides and has been operating for seven years. Grenville saw the benefits of being able to see the beautiful scenery in the Canterbury region on a motorcycle while enjoying the excitement and thrills offroad riding has. Running half-day and one-day tours all year and multi-day tours as required with maximum group sizes of five to six, individual client ability and interest is catered for. The tours are all inclusive so an experienced guide, complimentary transport from Christchurch, motorcycle or quad bike rental, fuel, insurance, protective riding gear and meals accommodations as required, are all included.

Most popular “The Mountain” 1-Day Offroad Tour does not require a motorcycle license and people get to ride over high country farmland with views over the Canterbury Plains. This property is so large there are numerous trails that can be used and beginner riders can enjoy the rolling hills and pastureland while for the experienced riders there are river crossings, steeper hill climbs and bush tracks. The scenery you ride through includes braided rivers, native bush, beaches, snow-capped mountains, high country tussock farmland and pine forests. Guests see a range of wildlife also – fallow, red deer, native birds, wild pigs as well as domestic sheep, cattle and deer.

There are also Half-Day Novice and Beginners Tours – all-inclusive, suitable for first timers or young people short on time. It is a lot of fun coaching people on their first ride, which can be anyone from a group of ladies to a professional from a city who has never driven a car. This tour is recommended for most people who are riding a motorcycle for the first time and Adventure Trailrides’ coaching methods have been very successful in building riders confidence. When people are flying out of Christchurch in the afternoon, this is a great way to fill in the morning and do something outdoors.

Multi-day tours are a very New Zealand experience where the riders not only experience great offroad riding and scenery, but will also stay at farms, boutique homestays and hotels. This ensures people can experience the New Zealand lifestyle of wonderful food and the social atmosphere. Riders are able to relax at the end of a great day’s riding with a New Zealand wine or beer, sitting by an open fire or relaxing tired muscles in a hot tub. Canterbury is home to some of the best All Black rugby players so mention “rugby” and you could be in for a long night.

Adventure Trailrides likes to ensure people have a most memorable experience, so when a rider once commented he would like to stop for lunch at a winery, they rode trailbikes to the Waipara Springs Vineyard for lunch. Each year motorcycles are updated with new models and this year Adventure Trailrides has added to the fleet again. Catering to more people, five new quad bikes were added this year that are excellent for the novice, beginner riders. Adventure Trailrides’ range of clients includes couples, corporate groups, fathers and sons, but mainly men aged 25-50 years. Most importantly, they have a new staff member, Chris, who manages all bookings and coordinates the guides. This ensures Adventure Trailrides can be contacted during work hours, as answering a phone while riding a motorcycle is still beyond the ability of guides!
